Martina McCulloch

Martina Pauline McCulloch, age 88, of Milbank died July 14, 2017, at the Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 18 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Milbank. Fr. Gary DeRouchey will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 17, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a prayer vigil at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at the Church on Tuesday, one hour prior to the Mass. Burial will be in the St. Lawrence Cemetery in Milbank.

Casket bearers will be: Patrick Leder. Shane Hovorka, Collis Dahle, Glenn Folk, Robert Johnson, Michael McCulloch, and Brad McCulloch.
Honorary bearers will be: Misti Hovorka, Brandi Leder, Josh McCulloch, Topher McCulloch, Ryan McCulloch, Meghan McCulloch, and Alexa McCulloch.

Martina Pauline Herman was born in Cordia, KS. She was the daughter of Nichademus and Elizabeth (Schoenberger) Herman.
While growing up, Martina lived in several small towns in Kansas. Martina attended school through the 8th grade.

Martina was united in marriage with Melvin McCulloch and moved to the Milbank area where she remained until her passing.
Martina was a housewife and loved cooking for family, entertaining others, looking for new recipes to use, and a prayer warrior who prayed for others, especially, her children and grandchildren.

Martina attended the St. Lawrence Catholic Church and was a member of the Altar Society, and served as a Eucharist minister. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary and a women’s extension club.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Melvin of Milbank, SD; four sons: Gary (Angela) McCulloch of Brookings, SD; Jeffrey (Corrine) McCulloch of Milbank, SD; Terry McCulloch of Milbank, SD; and Dennis (Lisa) McCulloch of Valley City, ND; seven grandchildren: Misti (Shane) Hovorka of Shakopee, MN; Brandi (Patrick) Leder of St. Paul, MN; Josh McCulloch of St. Paul, MN; Topher McCulloch of Chicago, IL; Ryan McCulloch of Seattle, WA; Meghan McCulloch of Valley City, ND; Alexa McCulloch of Valley City, ND; and four great-grandchildren: Tyler, Brynn, and Aisly Hovorka of Shakopee, MN; and Alice Leder of St. Paul, MN.

Martina was preceded in death by her parents: Nichademus and Elizabeth Herman; two sons: David and Paul McCulloch; four brothers: Victor, Robert, Wendlin, and Leonard; and two sisters: Clematina Herman and Louise Zerr.
