Bloodmobile Hits High Percentage

The American Red Cross Bloodmobile staged a blood drive Tuesday, July 11, at the Milbank High School lunchroom, and obtained 91.17% of its goal.
“We were a little short of our goal of 136 units,” stated local coordinator Margaret Skoog. “We collected 128 units. Most drives around the area are hitting about 80% this summer, so we are very happy with the turnout.”
One-hundred and twenty-two people presented to donate. There were two deferments. Twenty-four people signed up for double-red donation with 21 giving. Eighty-seven units of whole blood were obtained.
“Summer is traditionally a higher demand for blood,” said Skoog. “Some places have a one-day supply and some less. Our donation shows the great commitment our community has and why Milbank is a good place to live.”
The next blood drive is scheduled for Monday, November 20, at Unity Square.
