Post 9 Ends Baseball Season 25-6

The Milbank American Legion Post 9 baseball team fell in their first two games of the State Class B tournament in Winner July 21-25. They ended their season with a 25-6 record.
Milbank dropped 4-1 to Spearfish in their first game on July 21. Post 9 scored its lone run on seven hits in the game. Jonny Ash, Dom Boerger, Jake Fox, Dylan Johnson, Jacob Karges, Gage Sayler, and Tate Stricherz each put up a hit. Boerger was credited with the loss for Milbank. He struck out 10 batters in six innings and gave up 10 hits, four runs, and one walk.
Milbank then went up against McCook/Miner-Salem Post 140 on July 22, and suffered a 6-1 loss. They were eliminated from further play. Milbank’s one run came from six hits. Karges led the team with two hits. Boerger, Johnson, Mitch Quade, and Sayler added one each.
Ash started on the mound for Milbank. He struck out one hitter and gave up one hit and two walks in two innings. Johnson, in relief, struck out three batters, allowed five hits, four runs, and three walks in four innings. Karges closed out the game. He gave up three hits and two runs.
