The cheer team will lead the fans at all games this season, including all away games. The 2017 football cheer squad is led by seniors Emily Dornbusch and Brittany Preller. Mackenzie Weinkauf, Taylor Dragt, Makenna Osowski, Kimberly Van Sambeek, Maddie Gustafson, and Emma DeBoer complete the team.
The squad kicks off the season, when the Bulldogs travel to Madison Friday, August 24. “We want to increase our stunting level to wow the crowd,” said MHS Cheer Coach April Anderson.
Anderson is in her fifth season of advising the squad. She is a former cheerleader and an AACCA certified cheer coach.
“When selecting girls for the team, I look for tight motions, rhythm, and enthusiasm,” Anderson said. “I have two judges choose the girls, so there is an unbiased opinion. Our goals for this season are to hit harder, more interesting stunts, and really get the crowds excited for the games.”
