The Lady Bulldogs volleyball team hosted the Deuel Cardinals August 29. Milbank cruised to a 3-0 victory with sets at 25-19, 25-10 and 25-17.

Senior Molly Rick led the team with 14 kills on 24-28 hitting, two aces on 11-13 serving, and 14 digs. Sophomore Jaecy Engebretson followed with six hits on 13-14 hitting, three aces on 9-10 serving, 13 assists on 44-44 setting, 8 digs, and one block. Junior Gabbi Cummins added five kills on 16-22 hitting, three aces on 11-13 serving, and 13 assists on 27-27 setting. Adding to the team totals were MaKayla Johnson with five kills on 11-14 hitting, and Maty Lightfield with nine digs.
Milbank hosted Aberdeen Roncalli Thursday, August 31, and lost 3-1 loss to the Lady Cavaliers.
The Lady Bulldogs trailed early on at 6-2. Milbank came back to knot the score at 10-10 with kills by Engebretson, Jaden Hoeke, and Cummins. They fell behind at 17-11, but battled back to even the score at 20-20. Milbank committed unforced errors late in the set and fell 25-22.

The teams started out even in the second set, but Milbank found themselves behind at 10-5. Rick turned on the heat and led a surge to pull the Lady Bulldogs to within one point at 15-14. Milbank tied the match at 22-22. Engebretson pounded out a kill late in the set to give Milbank the 24-23 advantage. Roncalli then committed a hitting error, giving Milbank the 25-23 second set victory.

In the third set, Milbank fell behind at 14-8. They pulled to within two points at 16-14, but would not get any closer. Roncallli took the set at 25-20.

Even play followed in the fourth set with Milbank trailing 12-6 and again at 17-12. The Lady Bulldogs cut the deficit to two points at 23-21. An unforced error and a kill by the Lady Cavs gave Aberdeen the 25-22 win.

Rick led the Lady Bulldogs with 18 kills on 36-41 hitting, one ace on 16-16 serving, and 14 digs. Engebretson contributed 11 kills on 29-33 hitting, 17 assists on 69-69 setting, and 10 digs. Hoeke went 19-22 hitting with four kills, 12-15 serving with three aces, nine digs, and three blocks.

Cummins added four kills on 16-21 hitting and 13 assists on 54-54 setting. Lightfield had one ace on 11-13 serving, and Johnson was credited with one block.
