The Milbank Bulldogs battled tough conditions during the Madison Invitational high school boys golf tournament at the Madison Country Club Tuesday, September 5. High winds led to higher scores for the Dawgs.
“It was a tough windy day on a difficult golf course,” expressed Milbank head golf coach Mark Keeton. “Putting was a challenge as it was hard to keep your balance, and speed was an issue on the fast greens. Even though the conditions were less than desirable, we need to do a better job not throwing strokes away.”
Milbank finished 10th in the team standings with a 418. Aberdeen Roncalli won the tournament with a 340. Sioux Valley was second with a 371 and Parkston took third with a 372.
Rounding out the team scores were Madison, 374; Sioux Falls Christian, 375; Chamberlain, 382; Dell Rapids, 392; West Central, 395; Tri-Valley, 412; McCook Central, 476; Canton, 478, and Tiospa Zina, 555.
Jacob Lee of Parkston earned medalist honors with an 18-hole round of 71. Adam Thomas led the Bulldogs with a 22nd place finish and a 97 (48-49). Gage Sayler followed with a 101 (52-49). Noah Pillatzki shot a 109 (56-53) on the day while Isaac Nolz finished at 111 (57-54). Chase Pinkert rounded out the scores for Milbank with a 121 (55-66).
