The Milbank boys golf team wrapped up their regular season at the Sisseton Invitational meet Thursday, September 21.
The Bulldogs experienced a tougher day on the golf course. Milbank finished with a team score of 391 and were fifth in the team standings. “As a team we struggled in the wind and on the greens,” explained head golf coach Mark Keeton. “I don’t know what it is, but all area golfers seem to have a hard time in Sisseton.”
Conner VanVooren sparked the team with a third place finish. He fired in an 18-hole round of 77. “Conner did a great job on the greens that seems to always give the players fits,” added Keeton. “His short game continues to improve.”
VanVooren was the lone Bulldog to place in the top 15 during the meet. Rounding out the team for Milbank were Isaac Nolz, 99; Adam Thomas, 105; Logan Meyer, 110, and Noah Pillatzki, 111.
The Bulldogs will battle for top places during the Region 1A golf tournament Monday, September 25, in Dell Rapids in hopes of earning a berth to the state Class A tourney.
