The Lady Bulldogs tennis team ended their regular season with a 5-2 loss to Benson, Minnesota, September 28, on the road.
“With the exception of Halli Essington and Hattie Muellenbach, Benson proved to be too strong for us this year,” stated Bulldog Head Tennis Coach Jim Dahl.

Essington and Muellenbach were the lone winners at No. 2 and No. 3 singles. Muellenbach cruised to a straight set win. “Hattie played her best singles match of the season with consistent group strokes and keeping the ball deep on her opponent,” said Dahl. Essington got out to a shaky start, but came back to earn the win. Dahl said, “Halli figured it out and began to take a little off her stroke to get more in.”

Coach Dahl also gave credit to Jenna Johnson at No. 2 doubles for playing a solid match. Dahl said, “Her ground strokes were consistent and she did a much better job of keeping the ball away from their net girl.”

Milbank plays in the state tournament in Sioux Falls on Thursday, October 5, through Saturday, October 7.
