Susan Settje

Susan Settje, age 90, of Milbank died on October 8, 2017, at Milbank Area Hospital – Avera Health. She was the widow of Homer Virgil Settje.

Memorial service will be held on Monday, October 30, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Corona, with burial to follow at the Corona Lutheran Cemetery. Rev. Caleb Schewe will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Urn bearer will be Jim Settje.

Honorary bearers will be Joe Settje and Don Settje.

Music will be provided by Marlene Dockter, organist and Sherry DeBoer, soloist.

Susan (Fenhaus) Settje was born on June 28, 1927, in Corona, SD, to Elmer and Esther (Buttke) Fenhaus. She grew up in Corona and graduated from Corona High School.

Susan married Homer Settje on November 18, 1945. Together they were blessed with six children. Through their marriage, they lived in Cresten, NE; Milbank, SD; Springfield, SD; Pierce, NE; and Corona, SD. Susan enjoyed attending her sons’ sporting events. She worked at Dale Electronics in Norfolk, NE, for many years. After retirement, Susan returned to Corona and Watertown.

Susan loved to garden and had a large flower garden in Corona. She also enjoyed playing bingo in Watertown.

Susan is survived by her children: Randy Settje and Tom Settje, both of Sun City West, AZ; Jim Settje of Corona, SD; Scott Settje of Cumberland, RI; and Don Settje of Milbank, SD; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was proceeded in death by her daughter, Cindy, in 1955, and her husband, Homer, in 1997.
