Gene Lundberg

Gene Lundberg, age 81, of Milbank died on October 9, 2017, at Milbank Care & Rehab.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 13, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Revillo. Rev. Keith Smith will officiate and burial will be in the Revillo City Cemetery. Visitation will be at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank on Thursday from 5 – 7 p.m. and continue at the church on Friday, one hour prior to the service.

Casket bearers will be: Mark Lundberg, Scott Lundberg, Robin Larson, Rick Lundberg, Julie Symula, Tom Lundberg and David Crocker. Honorary bearers will be his two brothers: Orin Lundberg and Gale Lundberg; Jim Anderson and his LaBolt Mini Mall friends.

Gene Roger Lundberg was born on September 21, 1936, on the family farm near Revillo, SD. He was the son of Oris Roy Lundberg and Edna Ann (Briesacher) Lundberg. Gene grew up in the Revillo area and graduated from Revillo High School. He was a lifelong resident and farmed with his parents in Grant County. Gene was a kind, gentle man, as well as a “caregiver of the land”. He farmed until his health declined.

He was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Revillo. In his younger years, Gene enjoyed playing baseball and softball (his father was the pitcher). He liked golfing and bowling. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. After family dinners, card games were always played.

Left to cherish his memory are his dear friend, LaVonne M. Kohl of LaBolt, SD; two brothers: Orin (Lois) Lundberg of Alexandria, MN; Gale (Ramona) Lundberg of Clear Lake, SD; nieces: Robin (Greg) Larson, Julie (Derek) Symula; nephews: Mark (Barb) Lundberg, Scott (Janine) Lundberg, Rick (Margaret) Lundberg, Tom (Lisa) Lundberg; as well as many cousins and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents: Oris and Edna; and a brother and sister-in-law: Ronald and Carol Lundberg.
