Lady Bulldogs Shot Down by Pheasants

The Lady Bulldogs were shut out 3-0 by the Redfield-Doland Pheasants in Northeast Conference volleyball action October 12, at the Milbank Armory. Milbank Area dropped to 8-12 on the season with the loss.
Redfield-Doland exhibited solid, consistent play. The Lady Bulldogs went in streaks with a powerful offense at times, and unforced errors at other times. Milbank Area hung close in the first two sets, but fell 25-19 and 25-22. They lost 25-11 to end the match.
Molly Rick led the Lady Bulldogs with nine kills on 29-39 hitting, one ace on 9-9 serving, seven digs, and one block. Gabbi Cummins followed with seven kills on 21-23 hitting and seven assists on 21-23 setting. Jaecy Engebretson tallied two aces on 6-7 serving. Maty Lightfield was 10-10 serving with one ace, and 29-39 setting with nine assists and five digs. Jaden Hoeke contributed eight digs and two blocks.
The Milbank C team defeated Redfield-Doland 2-1 with scores of 7-25, 25-16, and 15-13. The junior varsity lost 2-0 by scores of 8-25 and 19-25.
Milbank Area travels to Mellette Saturday, October 14, to take on Northwestern. They battle Sisseton Tuesday, October 17, in their final home match of the season.
