The Milbank Area Chamber of Commerce and the Milbank Fire Department are scaring up a good time for kids this Halloween. The Milbank Fire Department hosts its 25th Annual Halloween Safety Stop at the Fire Hall from 6 to 8 p.m. The costume contest starts at 7 p.m. Prizes go to the cutest, scariest, and most original costumes.

This year, five lucky kids will win a ride to school on a Milbank Fire Department fire truck. Registration is at the Fire Hall on Halloween night. Children are also eligible to win door prizes, and the winning coloring contest posters will be on display.

“Anyone that would like to donate treats, please have them to the Fire Hall anytime after 12 noon on Halloween day,” says Kevin Schuelke, Milbank Fire Chief. “No candy please.”

The Milbank Area Chamber of Commerce also hosts its annual Treat Street on Halloween night from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Main Street. “All businesses, organizations, churches, and families are welcome to participate, regardless if you are located on Main Street or not,” says Laura Kelly, director of events for the Chamber. Prizes will be awarded to the business or group with the funniest and the most creative costumes.

For questions about either event, contact Kelly at the Chamber office or Fire Chief Schuelke.
