Approximately 750 people attended the annual Halloween Safety Stop at the fire hall in Milbank on October 31. The Milbank Fire and Rescue Department served snacks, and drinks, held contests, and gave away prizes. This year, children had a chance to win a ride to school in a fire truck. Jose Chan, Jayden Korstjens, Shantel Eilers, Cam Stengel, and Hannah Kirchberg were the lucky winners.
Costume contest winners included: Loehrer (King Tut), scariest; Claire Schwandt (mouse trap), most original; and Vivian Mathiason (Cinderella and her prince), cutest.
Door prize winners were Briella Streich and Brody Homan, ages 0-3; Sophia Bass and Matthew Unzen, ages 4-7, and Veronica Fonder and Zane Kilde, ages 7 and up.
Coloring contest winners were also announced and prizes given for first through third place. Winners were:
