Verla Miller, age 92, of Milbank, SD, died on Monday, November 20, 2017, at St. William’s Care Center. Services will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Central United Methodist Church in Milbank. Rev. DeVern Schwenn will officiate and burial will be at Corona Baptist Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 24, 2017, from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m., with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home. Visitation will continue at the church, one hour prior to the service.

Casket bearers will be: Rick Schwenn, Cory Schwenn, Brenden Schwenn, Patrick Schwenn, Jason Soward, Dave Hamman, Chuck Green, Jared Stotts, Austin Buskohl, Allen Meyer, Andy McVey, Chris McVey, Jeff Burkle, and Luca Miller.
Honorary bearers will be the St. William’s staff and residents.

Verla Mae (Davis) Miller was born on April 22, 1925, at the family farm near Corona, SD. She was the daughter of Sarah (Wiese) and Leonard Davis. Verla graduated from Corona High School.

Verla was united in marriage with Milford Miller on April 6, 1947, at the Methodist Church in Corona. Together they were blessed with 47 years of marriage and four children: Sharon, Jan, Deb, and Bob.

Verla was an active member of Corona Methodist Church for many years. She transferred to Central United Methodist Church in Milbank upon the closing of her childhood church. She loved making and decorating cakes and cookies. She enjoyed sewing and making homemade crafts for her family and friends. She loved her family, and especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She lived on the family farm from her birth until she moved to St. William’s Care Center in June 2010.

Verla is survived by her children: Sharon (Lowell) Schwenn of Corona, SD; Jan (Jim) Dietman of Milbank, SD; Deb (Dave) McVey of Sioux Falls, SD; and Bob (Cristina) Miller of Stillwater, MN; sisters-in-law: Phyllis Harms of Sioux Falls, SD; Marilyn Johnson of Snohomish, WA; Bonnie Schulte of Milbank, SD; brother-in-law, Jerry (Vangie) Miller of Aberdeen, SD; niece, Theresa Davis of Watertown, SD; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Milford Miller; brother, Lester Davis; nephew, Scott Davis; brothers-in-law: Dale Schulte; Harvey Harms; and Donnie (Juanita) Miller; sister-in-law, Margaret (Junior) Rohlfs.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. William’s Care Center.
