Earl A. “Lonnie” Lundberg, age 92, of Strandburg, SD, died on December 1, 2017, at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown, SD.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Tabor Lutheran Church in Strandburg, SD, with Rev. Elmer Brinkman officiating. Interment will follow at Tabor Lutheran Cemetery in Strandburg. Visitation will be held at Mundwiler Funeral Home of Milbank from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 5, 2017. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Earl “Lonnie” Lundberg was born on December 26, 1924, in rural Strandburg, SD, to Herman and Vera (Nelson) Lundberg. Lonnie attended grade school in Troy, SD, and graduated from Strandburg High School. Lonnie served in the Army in the South Pacific during World War II. He was a lifelong resident of the Strandburg area, farming on the family farm until his retirement.
Lonnie was an active member in the Stockholm – Strandburg American Legion. He was also a member of Tabor Lutheran Church. Lonnie was a quiet, humble man who enjoyed being with his family and friends. One of the highlights of his day was having coffee with his friends at the local café.
Lonnie is survived by siblings: Ardis (Glenn) Barber of Rapid City, SD; and Patricia Luken of Watertown, SD; sister-in-laws: Marsha Lundberg of Strandburg, SD; Jean Lundberg of Loganville, GA; Gail Lundberg of Jefferson City, MO; longtime friend, Viola Linngren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Vera Lundberg; four brothers; Orville, Morris, Beverly, and Norman; two sisters: Margie Douglas and Bonnie Barnes; and brother-in-law, Herman Luken.
