MHS Boys Basketball Prepares for Season

The Milbank Bulldogs basketball team starts the season led by their new head coach Logan Diede. Coach Diede says, “I feel great about this year. There isn’t a better group of young men to start the next chapter in the rich tradition of Bulldog basketball. There’s work to do, but we’ll be putting it in. It’s a process, but we trust in it. The journey is what it’s all about.”
Diede began his coaching career as a student assistant coach at Presentation College for the men’s team. He was the head coach for three years at Centerville High School and an assistant coach at Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell for one year. Just prior to moving to Milbank, he was an assistant coach for the boys team at Blaine High School in Minneapolis.
Diede previewed the 2017-2018 season: “The fans can expect to see a tough and together group competing to win every single possession. Wins cannot be promised, ever. However, the way we go about things can and will be. This year will be an absolute new look to the Bulldog boys basketball program.” Diede is assisted by Ryan Scoular (JV coach) and Jade Miller (C team coach).
Diede also says, “Our focus is to compete each and every day and improve with every opportunity that comes our way. A group with high character and taking leadership as well as ownership in their basketball program is the key. Once this is established, the winning will happen and take care of itself and be sustainable long term.”
Senior Dawgs: Derrick Aho, Jonny Ash, Preston Morton, Chandler Peery, Mitch Quade, James Weber, and Luke Wold. Juniors: Jake Fox, Riley Gauer, Kacen Huber, Jordan Riley, Jacob Sandvig, and Tate Stricherz. Sophomores: Evan Erickson, Max McCulloch, CJ Rushing, Alex Schuelke, Sam Seffrood, Jamisen Sperry, Noah Steinlicht, and Adam Wollschlager. Freshmen: Braden Brandriet, Will Cummins, Micah Dietmeier, Carter Hartman, Jared Johnson, Tanner Mertens, Mason Riley, Parker Schell, Jake Trevett, and Guillermo Vilchis Morelos.
