Vera Dikstaal

Vera June Dikstaal, age 83, of Milbank, SD, died on December 11, 2017, at Milbank Area Hospital – Avera Health. Services will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank. Rev. Caleb Schewe will officiate. Inurnment will be at Milbank City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home, and will continue at the church one hour prior to the service.

Honorary bearers will be all of Vera’s nieces and nephews.

Music will be provided by Kristy Tostenson, organist.

Vera June Dikstaal was born on July 10, 1934, near Twin Brooks, SD. She was the daughter of Bert and Amelia (Runge) Dikstaal. Vera attended country school in Kilborn and Madison Townships. She was confirmed at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank and was a devoted church member for the rest of her life.

Vera was a lifelong resident of the Milbank area, working at St. Hubert Hotel and as a caregiver. In her free time, Vera enjoyed playing cards and dominos. She could always be found at home, working around the house.

Left to cherish Vera’s memory are her brothers: Orville (Evelyn) Hilbrands of Milbank, SD; and Earl (Carolea) Dikstaal of Milbank, SD; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Marvin Hilbrands.
