The Milbank Bulldogs suffered a 60-43 loss to the Sisseton Redmen during doubleheader basketball action Tuesday, December 12. The Bulldogs struggled to contend with the Redmen’s fast pace and hot shooting and trailed 18-11 at the end of the first quarter. They remained behind 33-22 at the midway mark.

The Dawgs gained ground in the third period to cut the deficit to 40-31. But heading into the final stanza, the Redmen hit a hot streak and poured in 20 points to take the win 60-43.

James Weber led the Bulldogs with eight points and two rebounds. Jake Fox made seven points and five rebounds. Max McCulloch tallied six points, three rebounds, and one assist. Mitch Quade, Will Cummins, and Jordan Riley chipped in five points each. Quade grabbed three rebounds, and Riley had three boards, one assist, and one steal.

Adding to the totals for the Dawgs were: Jonny Ash, three points, one rebound, and one steal; Preston Morton, two points, three boards, and one steal; Tate Stricherz, two points, one rebound, and one steal; and Chandler Peery and Braden Brandriet, one rebound each.

Milbank hit 17-of-50 shooting from the field for 34 percent. The Dawgs ended the game with 27 rebounds, 11 steals, and two assists. They committed 12 turnovers.

Sisseton made 50 percent of their shots from the field – hitting 25 of 50 attempts. They snagged 35 rebounds and made 10 steals and one blocked shot. The Redmen committed 13 turnovers.

Milbank travels to Aberdeen Friday, December 15, to take on the Roncalli Cavaliers. The C game begins at 5:15 p.m. JV and varsity follow.
