Mundwiler and Larson Funeral Home announces the death of Allen L. Gronfeld of Johnson, MN, age 69, who died on January 6, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Services will be Wednesday, January 10, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church near Johnson, MN, with Rev. Eugene Andrus officiating.  Visitation will take place on Tuesday, January 9, from 4-7 p.m. at Mundwiler and Larson Funeral Home in Graceville, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, one hour prior to the service at the church.  Burial will take place at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery immediately following the service.

Allen Lambert Gronfeld was born to Andrew and Annie (Limberg) Gronfeld on November 1, 1948, in Graceville, MN. Allen grew up in Johnson and was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church on November 28, 1948, and was confirmed on April 15, 1962. He attended school in Graceville and graduated with the class of 1966. He married Sandra Golish in Altura, MN on July 29, 1972. Their marriage was blessed with five children: Timothy, Amy, Jennifer, Julie, and Melissa.

Allen lived his entire life in the Graceville/Johnson area. He grew up on the farm and carried on the family farming tradition for another 45 years, caring for crops, hogs, and cattle. He was enlisted in the National Guard from 1967 to 1973, and was very active with Trinity Lutheran Church in Johnson, serving on the Church Council for many years. He also served on the Leonardsville Township Board, ASCS Board, and was a local 4-H Leader for many years.

Allen enjoyed fishing on local lakes and deer hunting every fall. He also kept an extensive vegetable garden. His main love was his family; he travelled all over the United States with his wife, taking many memorable trips. He spent every available opportunity with his grandchildren and especially enjoyed flying kites with them on Easter! Allen loved to be in the shop tinkering where he was known to be able to fix anything.  He also enjoyed helping anyone and everyone he could.

Allen is survived by his wife, Sandra of Johnson, MN; children: Timothy (Sara) Gronfeld of Graceville, MN; Amy (Mike) Gebro of Fairmount, ND; Jennifer (Mark) Vogt of Miltona, MN; Julie (Martin) Hochhalter of Horace, ND; Melissa (Eric) Mueller of Big Stone City, SD; and foreign exchange daughter, Leonie (Thomas) Kiso of Hamburg, Germany; grandchildren: Isabelle, Gretchen, Andrew, and Nathaniel Gronfeld; Simone, Cari, Abigail, Tyler, and Amanda Gebro; Dillon, Elizabeth, Ashley, McKayla, and Aaron Vogt; Devon, Mackenzie, and Braden Mueller; great-grandchildren: Jaxon and Sofia; siblings: Donna (Ron) Kuehl of Trimont, MN; Arnold Gronfeld of Johnson, MN; brothers-in-law: Don Nelson of Fergus Falls, MN; Dave Golish of Utica, MN; and Gary (Sue) Golish of St. Charles, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents: Andrew and Annie Gronfeld; and one sister, Margret Nelson.

Music will be provided by Fran Harris, organist; Sara Gronfeld, flutist; and Dillon Vogt, soloist.

Military Honors will be provided by Graceville American Legion Post #297.

Casket bearers will be: Franz Lubenow, Monte Rahn, Armand Aswege, Chad Golish, Herman Wencel, Joel Golish, Christopher Kuehl, and Adam Hybbert.
