The American Red Cross Blood Drive held Tuesday, February 27, at Unity Square in Milbank suffered from lower than average attendance, according to organizer Margaret Skoog. Skoog said, “The drive fell short of its goal of 110 units – just 86 units were donated.”

“A lot of people were sick and were not able to attend,” Skoog also said. “But adding even just one unit is more than was on the shelf before, so we are still happy.”

Dillon Zemlicka was presented with a three-gallon pin. Eighty-eight year old Delores Nordquist was recognized as the “Queen”. “Delores and many other older ladies continue to give and are such an inspiration to many,” Skoog said. Volunteers from Central United Methodist Church provided and served treats to the workers and donors.

The next blood drive in Milbank is Tuesday, July 10, from noon to 6 p.m. at Milbank High School.
