The Milbank Area Lady Bulldogs basketball team concluded their season with an awards night at MHS. Coach Brian Pauli presented the awards.
Gabby Cummins won the coveted Most Valuable Player award. Sophia Seffrood was selected as the Most Improved on the varsity team and Jaecy Engebretson won that award on the junior varsity squad. Taylor Thue garnered the top Defense award. The Spirit of the Bulldog award went to Mackayla Johnson and Shea Hooth was chosen for the 6th Man award.

Molly Rick and Seffrood were named to the Academic All-State team by the South Dakota High School Activities Association for their work in the classroom. To receive the award, a player must participate in the sport for at least three years and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above.

Gabby Cummins was named to the All-Northeast Conference team for the second year in a row. This year, she made the second team – up from last year’s berth on the third team. The award is voted on by the conference coaches.

Major letterwinners for the 2017-2018 season include: Lindsey Mertens, Katie Vander Wal, Gabbi Cummins, Molly Rick, LaChasity Finley, Taylor Thue, Shea Hooth, Jaecy Engebretson, Mackayla Johnson, Sophia Seffrood, and Ashley Wollschlager.

Players earning a minor “M” are: Katie Wollschlager, Kylie Kasuske, Elisabeth Schwenn, Jaden Hoeke, Tracy Pillatzki, Jessica VanPeursem, Madi Thue, Allison Leddy, Kadance Kretzschmer, Josie Adolph, Maurina Street, and Brooklyn Brandriet.
