Ryan Koch, age 35, of Minneapolis, MN died on April 7, 2018, at Hennepin County Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 12 at 2:00 pm at American Lutheran Church in Milbank. Rev. Bob Hansen will officiate and burial will be in the Milbank Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday, one hour prior to the service. Music will be provided by Mary Bjordal, organist and Ray Ogdahl, vocalist. Casket bearers will be: James Glomstad, Bill St. Martin, Charlie St. Martin, Dave St. Martin, Robert Grimli, Jeff Strobl, Eric Strobl, and Josh Koch. Honorary bearers will be Ryan’s aunt, uncles, and every person that Ryan’s heart touched.

Ryan Jacob Koch was born on February 26, 1983, in Milbank, SD. He was the son of Mark William St. Martin and Elizabeth Anne Koch. Ryan started school in Milbank and moved with his family to the Twin Cities in 1987. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Ryan graduated from North High School, North St. Paul, MN, with the Class of 2000. He attended Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Ryan moved to California in 2004, and returned to Minneapolis/St. Paul in August of 2011. He worked in the food industry in serving and managing. He worked at various restaurants including Perkins, Cheese Cake Factory, TGIF, The Tavern, and Wild Boar. Ryan was a “gentle giant.” He was large in stature, but kind and loving inside. He had a spirit of compassion and was always kind to others. He touched many lives with his kindness.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents: Mark and Beth St. Martin of Milbank, SD; siblings: James (Pam) Glomstad of Hugo, MN; Angela Glomstad ( Rob Grimli) of Milbank, SD; nephews and niece: Anthony, Cooper, and Bella; brother, Bill St. Martin (Whitney) of Sioux Falls, SD; as well as other relatives and many dear friends. Ryan was preceded in death by his grandparents: Jon Koch, Bill and Cleo St. Martin; and uncle Ryon Gross.
