Carol Madsen

Carol M. Madsen, age 92, former resident of Milbank died April 30, 2018, at the Bethany Home in Brandon, SD.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home with Rev. Russell McKee officiating. Interment will be at Milbank City Cemetery.

Carol May Hansen was born on January 19, 1926, in DeSmet, SD. She was the daughter of Roy and Carrie May (Pirlet) Hansen. After Carol graduated from high school, she attended Huron College. She married Norman Madsen on October 16, 1945. Carol and Norman were blessed with five children.

Carol was a faithful and long-time member of the Congregational Church in Milbank and was active as a Sunday School teacher. Carol was also an active Girl Scout Leader and volunteered at the Milbank Hospital as a Pink/Grey Lady. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, square dancing, and volunteering at church to make casseroles for funerals. She was always ready for a good game of cards, especially, Pinochle, Bridge or Cribbage!

Left to cherish her memory are her husband; Norman Madsen of Brandon, SD; children: Nancy Wheeler of Fort Lauderdale, FL; Caren (Butch) White of Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ; Carla (Bob) Peterson of Newborn, GA; Mary (Keith) Meade of Salt Lake City, UT; Chris Madsen of Watertown, SD; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings: Adeline Springer and Robert Hansen.
