Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, May 14, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Father Gary DeRouchey will celebrate the Mass. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 13, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. A prayer vigil and Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. immediately following the visitation.

Casket bearers will be: James Giossi, Allan Giossi, Chet Drewelow, Chad Johnson, Travis Jorgenson, Ryan Spanton, Allan Giossi, Jr., and Dakota Giossi. Honorary Bearer are: Gene’s nieces and nephews, and the staff and residents of St. Williams Care Center.

Eugene Giossi was born on April 6, 1950, to Raymond and Betty (Hinders) Giossi in Milbank, SD. He attended and graduated from the Milbank High School. After graduation, he moved to Aberdeen, SD, to look for job opportunities. While he lived in Aberdeen, he had a bicycle accident which encouraged him to move back to Milbank.

Gene worked at the Milbank Hospital for many years in the dietary department. He enjoyed spending time with his family and coffee buddies. He took interest in the outdoors as a young man and enjoyed fishing, working on the farm and going camping. He was a faithful member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and was known for always arriving early to Mass to ensure he could sit in his usual spot.

Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Betty Giossi of Milbank, SD; siblings: James (Lynette) Giossi of Milbank, SD; Allan (Barb) Giossi of Munfordville, KY; Dorothy (Norval) Drewelow of Clinton, MN; Susan (Mike) Johnson of Milbank, SD; Cindy (Harlen) Jorgenson of Ortonville, MN; and Kathy (Doug) Winter of Altamont, SD; one aunt; one uncle; two sisters-in-law: Bea Freeman of Hastings, MN; and June Giossi of Milbank, SD; one brother-in-law, Alvin Spanton of Watertown, SD; and many nieces and nephews. Gene was preceded in death by his father, Ray; siblings: Kenny Giossi, Bruce Giossi, and Sherry Spanton; and sister-in-law, Karen Giossi.
