The 2018 Milbank Youth Baseball season teed-off on June 6. Games are played at Pribyl Park on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. First pitch (or tee) is at 6 p.m. This season, the field includes 12 teams divided into four age groups: four T-ball teams, three U8 (ages 8 and under) teams, three U10 teams, and two teams in the U12 division.
Each U8 division team competes against other Milbank teams and travels to nearby cities, such as Webster and Sisseton, for out- of- town games. Each team is coach by a volunteer, so players must have their own transportation.
The youngest level of play is T-ball. In Milbank, the four teams rotate to play one another each week. There are no out-of-town games and no visiting teams. Players focus on learning fundamentals and having fun.
“I like that they stay in Milbank during the T-ball years. It gives them the chance to get comfortable with the sport, while growing in skill level with their peers,” said Brittni Cordingley, mother of a T-ball team member.” “I think they enjoy seeing which friend they are playing against each week. And it’s a fun way to bring our young families together.”
