Hal “Dean” Henson, age 83, of Milbank, died July 1, 2018, at Milbank Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 11, at 11:00 a.m. at Milbank City Cemetery. Rev. Kent Groethe will officiate.
Hal Dean Henson was born on November 13, 1934, in Kentucky. He was the son of William and Ruthie (Barlow) Henson. Dean grew up in Kentucky, graduated high school, and attended two years of technical school. He was united in marriage with Lurie Pittman. Together, they were blessed with three children: Larry, Terry, and Deana.
Dean spent his career in building construction, concrete, and brick laying. He worked for a civil engineering company as a civil draftsman. He lived in the Tucson, AZ area for most of his adult life. Dean later was united in marriage with Roslyn Reich. They continued to live in Tucson until their retirement. Dean and Roslyn moved to Milbank in 2015, to help care for Roslyn’s parents. Dean became a resident of Milbank Care and Rehabilitation Center in 2017.
Dean enjoyed bowling and square dancing. He loved guitar and country western music. His dog, Ebbie was a dear companion. Most importantly, Dean loved his family. He was a proud grandfather and great-grandfather, and especially enjoyed the time that granddaughter, Mandy, live with him and Roslyn.
Dean’s family will cherish his memory, including, Roslyn of Milbank, SD; his children: Deana Haggerty and Terry Henson both of Tucson, AZ; several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and step-daughter, Heidi Greenlee of Tucson, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Lurie; son, Larry; two sisters: Julia and Wanda; and step-son, Nathan Greenlee.
