Jo Asgrimsson

Jo Asgrimsson, age 74 of Milbank died July 29, 2018, at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 2, at 2:00 p.m. at Milbank Care and Rehabilitation Center. Rev. Tim Rynearson will officiate. All friends are invited to attend.

Jo Saemundsdottir Asgrimsson was born on November 28, 1943, in Iceland. She was the daughter of Saemundur and Jonina (Brown) Jonsson. Jo grew up in Iceland and completed her college education before she was united in marriage with Jon Asgrimsson, in the spring of 1965. They were blessed with a daughter in 1966, Heida. Jon and Jo eventually moved to the United States, and settled in Milbank, SD. They owned and operated The Manor Motel for several years. Heida joined her family in Milbank. She passed away in December of 2016.

Jo learned to speak English by doing crossword puzzles. She was extremely proud to become a citizen of the United States. She was a talented artist and painter; she loved to paint on canvas. Most important to Jo was her family. She was a proud and devoted Godmother to Matthew Mueller. She loved him dearly and cherished time spent together. Jo had a tender and caring heart, putting others needs in front of her own. She will be missed and her memory will be cherished.

Jo is survived by her husband, Jon of Milbank, SD; two sisters; relatives in Iceland; as well as dear friends: Mark, Sarah, and Matthew Mueller of Milbank.
