Lukas Rethke

Lukas Rethke, age 41, of Cotopaxi, CO, formerly of Milbank, passed away July 30, 2018.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, August 10, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank. Rev. Tim Rynearson will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday, August 9, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home and continue one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.

Lukas Leslie Rethke was born on April 8, 1977, to Leslie and Regina (Buttke) Rethke, in Milbank, SD. He was raised on a farm between Milbank and Corona. He attended and graduated from Milbank High School in 1995. After high school, Lukas moved to Colorado. He resided in many locations and settled in Cotopaxi.

Lukas was a jack of all trades and could fix just about anything. He loved to tinker with things and figure out how he could get them working again. He worked mainly in the construction field and was good with his hands. He was a hard worker and took pride in his work.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents: Leslie and Regina; maternal grandparents: Eldred and Alma Buttke of Corona, SD; and three brothers: Mark (Niki) of Milbank, SD; Joseph (Jill) of Watertown, SD; and Benjamin of Big Stone City, SD; one niece, Alyssa; four nephews: Damien, Ryker, Christian, and Evan; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Preceding him in death were his paternal grandparents: Lester and Viola Rethke.
