National Night Out started in 1984. That year, everyone just stayed home and turned on their porch lights. Still a good idea, but this year, join the whole town and head to the Milbank Fire Hall on Thursday, August 9, from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
A Burger and Brat Feed is hosted by the Milbank Fire and Rescue Department for a free will donation. Kids activities include jumping on inflatables,
a spray house and a ball drop with prizes. Fire Chief Kevin Schuelke said, “The Grand Prize is a ride to school in a fire truck!”
Adults can learn how things work from air bags, jaws of life, and thermal cameras, to gas monitors, and fire trucks. It will all be on display and a local emergency crew member will answer questions and be giving demonstrations.
There will be free smoke detectors available for those attending.
The Milbank Fire and Rescue Department, Milbank Police Department, Grant County Sheriff’s Department, Grant County Ambulance, the Department of Game, Fish and Parks, WVEC, and Grant County Emergency Management coordinate to bring you this community event to celebrate National Night Out.
