Betty June Arnold was born in South Shore, SD, to Charles and Clara (Brosowke) Arnold on June 30, 1926. She lived with her parents and attended school in Waverly District 63 in Waverly, SD. She married Daniel H. Dockter on February 17, 1945, at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank. From this union seven boys were born: David, Chris, Orville, Marlin, Douglas, Daniel and Cal. She talked about her seven sons and how proud she was of each of them.

Betty and Dan lived on a farm near Milbank and later moved to Milbank where Dan was the “culligan service man”. The family later moved to a farm near Bellingham, MN, before moving to Minneapolis, MN, where they resided for 15 years. They retired 3 miles north of Brandon, MN, in 1977, and resided there until Dan passed in 1995. Betty moved to Perham where she remained until her passing.

Betty was a licensed day care provider for 15 years in Minneapolis and worked for seven years at Chippewa Farms Nursery near Brandon. She attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Perham where she was involved with the quilting club, making quilts for her family, friends, and church. She was involved with the ladies aide and helped in the kitchen as needed at the church. She also enjoyed knitting and sewing. Most of all, Betty loved to bake homemade bread and baking in general. She was known to make the most amazing bread & tomato buns you have ever had. She liked to spend time in her huge garden and fishing with her husband and family.

Cherishing her memory are her sons: David Dockter of Deer River, MN; Chris (Brenda) Dockter of Carver, MN; Orville (Sheree) Dockter of Deer River, MN; Marlin of Trempealeau, WI; Douglas (Jean) Dockter of Johnson City, TN; Daniel Jr. (Carol) Dockter of Leonard, MN; and Cal (Nancy) Dockter of Perham, MN; grandsons: Jason (Aubreanne) Dockter, Justin (Kim) Dockter, Chris (Lindsey) Dockter, Matthew (Angie) Dockter, Nick (Rachel) Dockter, Andy (Megan) Dockter, Joshua (Tracy) Maligen; granddaughters: Lisa (Lance) Pearce, Dawn (Justin Sibben) Dockter, Cindy (George) Mohs, Amy (McKane) Wood, Sonia (Brandon) Johnson, and Melissa Dockter; numerous great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death are her parents; and husband, Daniel.
