Lady Bulldogs Earn Two More Wins

The MHS Volleyball Team hit the road twice last week. On October 2, they traveled to Deubrook, and on October 4, they visited Redfield. Both match-ups added a tally to the win column for the Lady Bulldogs.
Set scores versus Deubrook were 21-25, 25-21, 24-26, and 20-25. Milbank racked up eight aces – four by Jacey Engebretson, two from Katie Wollschlager, and one each from Tonya Meyer and Amy Nelson. Gabbi Cummins tallied 17 kills against the Lady Dolphins, Engebretson made 11, and Makayla Johnson added another eight. Cummins also had 16 assists and 23 digs. Engebretson notched 23 assists and 11 digs. Wollschlager accrued 22 digs and two assists, and Johnson contributed three blocks and five digs.
Scores for their second match-up of the week against the Pheasants were 25-23, 24-26, 16-25 and 25-27, to add another win to the Lady Bulldogs’ growing collection. Cummins and Johnson were kill leaders for the evening, with 17 and 16, respectively. Wollschlager led in digs with 35; Nelson followed with 21. Nelson also had top numbers in the assists column with 21; Cummins chalked up 13. Anna Mathews delivered three blocks – the most for the game. Jaden Hoeke made three of the team’s five aces, and Wollschlager and Hallie Schulte contributed one each.
The volleyball team will be playing two home matches this week taking on Madison on Tuesday, October 9 and Britton-Hecla on Thursday, October 11.
