MHS Girls Golf Coach Mark Keeton says he is pleased with the team’s start in the 2019 season. “Ortonville’s meet (April 23) was only the fourth time we got outside. The weather couldn’t have been better! Temps were in the 70s and there was no wind.”
Kylie Kasuske, a senior, placed third by carding an 84. Kylie who finished in 21st place at the 2018 Girls State Golf Championship is competing for her seventh season as a Lady Bulldog. Marion Mischel, a freshman, also showed strong at Ortonville. She tied her personal best at 120. Justine Wiik shot a 112 and Claire Mischel fired a 130.
Kasuske, buoyed by her success at Ortonville, garnered a second place finish at the Mobridge-Pollock Invitational on April 25. She tied for first place, but ending up settling for second as she lost on the first playoff hole. Tori Quade, brought home seventh place for Milbank.
Keaton says, “Golfing in Mobridge was a first for both me and the girls and it turned out to be a nice 13-hour trip. Their nine-hole course is set in the hills making for a lot of changes in elevation.” Marion Mischel golfed a consistent 120, Siri Bien carded a 121, and Jessica VanPeursem contributed a 150 for a team total of 436 and a third place finish.
