Kathleen “Kathy” Trapp, age 89, of Milbank, died on May 31, 2019, at St. William’s Care Center in Milbank.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 2, at 2:00 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church in Milbank. Rev. Thom Bowsher will officiate, and burial will be in the Milbank City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 1, at Central United Methodist Church from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Sunday, one hour prior to the service.

Casket bearers will be: Brandon Trapp, Brian Trapp, Jeffrey Trapp, Dereck Trapp, Shawn Kurban, and James Backman. Honorary bearers will be all of Kathy’s friends and family, and the staff and residents at St. William’s Care Center.

Catherine Ann Weber was born on June 1, 1929, in Verdi Township, MN. She was the daughter of Emil and Theresa (Weber) Weber. She attended rural school through the third grade. In 1937, the family moved to Milbank, SD. Kathy attended St. Lawrence Catholic School and Milbank High School, graduating with the Class of 1947. She worked at the Milbank Creamery for a short time.

Catherine changed her name to Kathleen after her marriage to Duane E. Trapp on November 20, 1947, at Twin Brooks, SD. They moved to Melrose Township, Grant County, in 1952.

Kathy was a devoted homemaker, wife, and mother. She and Duane were blessed with ten children (one set of twins and one set of triplets). She was a faithful member of Grant Center Church until it closed in 1954. She then joined Central United Methodist Church in Milbank.

Left to cherish Kathy’s memory are her children: Richard (Justine) Trapp of Rapid City, SD; Patricia Trapp of Milbank, SD; Garry (Marie) Trapp of Milbank, SD; Larry (Janet) Trapp of Milbank, SD; Rev. Dean (Susan) Trapp of Huron, SD; Pamela (Gary) Pommer of Rapid City, SD; Janette (Joe) Jackmovich of Rapid City, SD; and Janeen Kurban of Brookings, SD; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Mary Lou Dressler of Seattle, WA; three sisters-in-law: Avis (Darrel) Aden of Milbank, SD; Susan Weber of Milbank, SD; and Lois Loof of Phoenix, AZ.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents: Emil and Theresa; husband, Duane; son, Dennis; daughter, Janelle; great-grandson, Hunter Schweer; grandson-in-law, Jared Hansen; sisters: Genevieve and Maxine; and brothers: Robert, Joseph, Donald, William, and Bernard.
