Do you want homemade treats, but not the long hours in the kitchen? The Milbank Farmer’s Market has done the work for you. They make all your dreams of homemade goodies just a walk in the park. The market opens for the season this Tuesday evening from 4 – 7 p.m. in the park behind the Grant County Courthouse.

According to Laurie Folk, director of the Milbank Area Chamber of Commerce, which sponsors the market, the new location in the park is perfect. “It’s shady with green grass, concessions will be onsite, and there will be more vendors than ever.” She says parking is plentiful, too. Last year, the market was held uptown, but this summer the city parking lot will be used by downtown shoppers and merchants during the renovation of Main Street.

What hasn’t changed is the quality and variety of the market goods. From jams and jellies, to soap and farm-fresh vegetables (which make their appearance later in the summer), there’s something to tempt every member of your family.

Folk says, “The market runs each Tuesday during the summer and early fall, with some of the market nights featuring musical entertainment. There are also openings to hold meal fundraisers if your church, cancer walk team, or school group is interested.”
