Funeral Mass for Deborah A. (Cordie) Whitlow-Stone, 49, of Sioux Falls, SD formally of Sisseton and Milbank, SD will be held on Friday, July 12, 2019 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Sisseton, SD with Rev. Fr. Jerry Ranek celebrant. Organist will be Colette Hull and Song Leader will be Sandi Jaspers. Pallbearers will be Derek Whitlow, Daniel Cordie, Cory Cordie, Logan Crown, Zachary Crown, and Todd Sprung. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Deb’s Family and Friends. Interment will be in the St. St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. Military rites will be provided by the Otto-Quande-Renville American Legion Post #50 and the Ft. Sisseton V.F.W. Post #3342. There will be a visitation service on Thursday, July 11, 2019 from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD then with visitation from 7:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with a Prayer Service at 7:30 P.M. Deborah passed away on Monday, July 8, 2019 at Sanford Hospital, Sioux Falls, SD. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of funeral arrangements.
Deb was born November 29th, 1969, to Jerald B. and Donna M. (Brown) Cordie, in St. Paul, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Catholic Church is Sisseton, SD. She graduated from Sisseton High School in 1988. She attended Lake Area Technical Institute where she earned an Associates of Applied Science in Medical Laboratory Technology. While in High School, Deb joined the South Dakota National Guard. During her time with the National Guard, she was deployed to Saudi Arabia as part of Operation Desert Storm. She was in country for nine months. Shortly after her return she was employed by Avera Clinic in Milbank, SD. She worked as a Medical Laboratory Technician at the Milbank Clinic for 23 years. In August of 1992 she married Stephen Whitlow of Milbank, SD. They had two children, Derek Stephen Whitlow and Lauren Constance Whitlow. In October of 2017 she married Kenneth Stone of Milbank, SD.
Deb enjoyed spending time with family especially her children. She liked watching movies, the Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Vikings. She loved searching the internet for new recipes for appetizers that her family and friends would enjoy while watching the games. Deb was a caring individual who always put the needs of others ahead of her own needs.
Deb is survived by her husband Kenneth Stone; son Derek Whitlow; daughter Lauren Whitlow; parents Donna and Jerry Cordie; Grandfather Daniel Brown; sister Dianna (Todd) Sprung; brother Daniel (Carolyn) Cordie; nephews Cory, Logan, Zachary; and nieces Rebecca and Elizabeth, and two stepsons, Michael and Jamie, and one step daughter Jacqueline, and three step grandchildren..
Deb is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Joe and Lillian Cordie; maternal grandmother Lila Brown; and infant son Joshua.
