It’s July and time to Party in the Park! This Saturday, July 13, at Lake Farley Park, it’s meat, music, and motors. Manly maybe, but fun for everyone.
It’s the 15th Annual Q-Fest – part of Farley Fest and sponsored by the Milbank Area Chamber of Commerce. Contestants vie for cash prizes by creating mouth-watering samples of barbecued chicken, beef brisket, and St. Louis-style pork. Sampling starts at 5:30. Don’t forget to vote for your favorites for the People’s Choice awards.
Wash all that barbecue sauce down with an ice cold beer or soda from the beer garden. (Beer garden opens at 4.) Still hungry? Try something tasty from Guadalupe’s Mexican food or the VFW Walking Warriors cancer walk team.
Watch the annual burnout contest at 4 p.m. (Registration is open from 2:30 to 3:30.) Cash prizes totaling $1,000 will be shared by the winners in the posi and one-wheel-wonder categories.
And what’s a party without a little music? The band 8th Hour from Moorhead, Minnesota will rock your socks off with a free concert from 7:30 until 11. Hear all your favorites from the 70s, 80s, and 90s.
