Carol Wellnitz

Mass of Christian Burial for Carol J. Wellnitz will be held on Friday, August 2, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Milbank. Father Gary DeRouchey will celebrate the Mass. Visitation will be at St. Lawrence Catholic Church on Friday, one hour prior to the Mass. Burial will be at the St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery.

Carol Jean Ducker was born on August 10, 1947, in Milbank, SD, to Lyle and Myrtle (Giossi) Ducker. She married Roger Wellnitz on June 20, 1970. Carol and Roger lived in Twin Brooks for 52 years.

Carol worked as a CNA at Golden Living and St. William’s Care Center. She has also worked in construction and worked for United Hardware. She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church.

Carol enjoyed sewing, gardening, canning, pottery and ceramics. She liked to watch the Lifetime channel, and adored Elvis. In her younger days she liked to fish and hunt. She was a lover of all pets.

Carol is survived by her husband Roger, of Twin Brooks. SD; daughters: Julie (Ed) Proctor of Twin Brooks, SD; Cassie Wellnitz of Webster, SD; step-daughter, Angie (Dan) Bowen of Milbank, SD; brother, Gerald (Joanne) Ducker of Watertown, SD; grandchildren: Cecilia Caldwell, Sarah Dornbusch, Melinda Arnio, Justin Ridler, Samantha Ridler, Destiney Borchert, Kaylee Poppen, and Kylene Bowen; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
