National Night Out is Tuesday, August 6. Folks in 49 states across the country (Texas celebrates in October) go outside to meet their neighbors and interact with law enforcement and first responders. In South Dakota, 21 cities and counties have planned events.

Milbank’s Night Out starts at 5:30 p.m. at the 4-H grounds. Check out patrol cars, ambulances, fire trucks and more. Visit with personnel from the Milbank Police, Grant County Sheriff, Grant-Roberts Ambulance, South Dakota Highway Patrol, and the South Dakota Game Fish & Parks Department.

Milbank Fire Chief Kevin Schuelke, says, “Fire safety demos are back by popular demand. This year, learn to combat fires involving grease and water. And if you don’t have a smoke detector, stop by the Milbank Fire and Rescue Department’s table. They will give you one. Free.”

Kids, you get free stuff, too. Don’t miss the spray house – you take hold of the hose and put out the fire. And stick around for the ball drop between 7:30 and 8 p.m. Win prizes!

Don’t think you’ll go? What a cop out!
