Batchelor Leads the Pack in Cross Country Opener

Milbank sophomore Nick Batchelor cruised to a first place victory in the Milbank Breathe Easy cross country meet at the Whetstone Creek Golf Course in Milbank on Friday, August 29.

“We have had a good few weeks of practice and the kids were ready to compete,” noted Bulldog head coach Eric Townsend. “The meet atmosphere raises the intensity, and the kidsperformed well.” Senior Brady Femling finished second overall in the boys varsity 4K run. Fellow senior Zippy Bock was close behind in fourth place. Rounding out the Bulldog runners were Alex Farrell, fifth, and James Batchelor, sixth.

In the girls varsity 4K, freshman Maurina Street led the Lady Bulldogs with a fourth place finish. Freshman Ellie Neugebauer was close behind in fifth place, and sophomore Maiah Brown finished sixth. Rounding out the girl’s team was freshman Ashlyn O’Farrell, eighth; sophomore Amaya Street, ninth; and senior Danica Schulte, 10th .
Tyra Berry won the girls junior varsity 3K race. Isaac Graham led the boys JV team with a second place finish.
