The Milbank Bulldog boys golf team completed the 2019 regular season battling tough weather conditions at the Sisseton Invitational meet on Thursday, September 26. The Dawgs finished sixth in the team standings with a 440.
“The boys played well in some tough cold and windy conditions,” stated head coach Mark Keeton. “Sisseton’s greens are always tough to putt on, and they were made even more difficult with some very tricky pin placements.”

Sisseton won the meet with a team total of 351. The Watertown JV took second with a 368, and Aberdeen Roncalli was third with a 379. Rounding out the field were Sioux Valley, 389; Redfield-Doland, 398; Groton, 443, and Flandreau, 464.

Senior Eli Fischer led the team with a score of 98. He shot identical scores of 49 on both the front and the back holes. Logan Meyer finished with a 102 (51-51-) while Logan Fenhaus and Eric Van Sambeek shot the same score of 120 on the day.

Milbank will compete in the Region 1A meet on Monday, September 30, for a chance to advance to the State Class A tournament slated for Monday and Tuesday, October 7-8, in Vermillion. “I’m very pleased with how the boys are competing heading into regions,” added Keeton. “Volga has very big greens, so lag putting will be key.”
