Mona Englert, age 100 of Milbank, died on October 10, 2019, at her residence.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 17, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Father Gary DeRouchey will celebrate the Mass. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5 -p.m. – 7 p.m. at the church. A prayer vigil will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Thursday, one hour prior to the Mass. Burial will be at St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be: Nathan Englert, Norman Englert, Melody Englert, Pam Kempfer, Ginny Wood, David Seibel, Jesse Gagnon, Ann Ebba, Madison Tindle, and Donald Brueggert, Jr.

Mona Edna (Seibel) Englert was born on November 20, 1918, in Kidder, SD. She was the daughter of Weigand and Clara (Ehlers) Seibel. She grew up near Kidder and graduated from high school in 1936. She was united in marriage with Martin I. “Willie” Englert on May 7, 1939, in Britton, SD. They moved to Milbank and began their lives together. They were blessed with six children: Claire, Janice, Bob, Jim, Will, and Kathryn.

Mona was a devoted wife and mother. She adored her family. She enjoyed watching the Lawrence Welk Show and British comedies. She thoroughly enjoyed watching professional golf on television – and Phil Mickelson was her favorite player! She loved quilting and embroidering. She was proud of her vegetable and flower gardens. She solved number puzzles until just a few months prior to her death. Mona was a faithful member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. She was a member of the Altar Society and enjoyed quilting with the church ladies.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Claire Gagnon of Avondale, AZ; Janice (Don) Brueggert of Sidney, OH; Bob Englert of Milbank, SD; Jim Englert of Mankato, MN; Will (Meipo) Englert of Sioux Falls, SD; M. Kathryn (Mike) Tindle of Alexandria, VA; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren;

Mona was preceded in death by her parents: Weigand and Clara; husband, Martin; and one brother, Clayton Seibel.
