Lois J. Taffe, age 87, of Graceville, MN, died October 14, 2019, at Grace Home, in Graceville.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 21, at 11:00 a.m., at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Graceville. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m., with a time of sharing and remembrance at 7:00 p.m., on Sunday, October 20, at the Mundwiler and Larson Funeral Home in Graceville. Burial will be at the Graceville Consolidated Cemetery in Graceville.

Lois Joyce (Honzo) Taffe was born on August 4, 1932, in Wheaton, Minnesota. She was the daughter of James and Cora (Neill) Honzo. Lois grew up on a farm north of Johnson, Minnesota and graduated from Graceville High School in 1950. She tied as Valedictorian but lost on a draw. Lois enjoyed working for the Graceville Phone Company before she was married.

Lois was united in marriage with Leo Taffe on October 27, 1956, at St. Barnabus Catholic Church in Barry, Minnesota. They were blessed with five children.

Lois loved doing anything outdoors. She enjoyed working in her garden, fishing, hunting, golfing, and shooting trap. She loved decorating her house and yard for all the holidays with many lights and adornments. Lois took great pride in caring for her farm, especially mowing, and spent many hours woodworking. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Lois had a love for all animals, especially her dogs Babe and Sally.

Lois served on the Graceville School Board for many years. She also mowed the cemetery in Graceville in which she took great pride. Lois served on the Graceville Rural Housing Board and was very proud in being able to initiate the construction of the first apartment building in Graceville. She drove school bus for more than 35 years, was a member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary, was a member of the American Cancer Society, and the DFL.

In 1974, Lois was very proud when she received the Beautiful Farmstead Award. Lois loved to plant trees and received an award for outstanding conservation achievements in 1984 and again in 2003.

Lois is survived by her children: Candi (Bob) Thorson of St. Cloud, MN; Mike (Brenda) Taffe of Graceville, MN; Carrie (Greg) Frisch of Dumont, MN; Patty (Mark) Andrews of Graceville, MN; Susie Fuhrman (Jim Wulff) of Graceville, MN; 13 grandchildren: Nicole Thorson, Cody Thorson, Tanya (Tyson) Reiter, Michael (Sara) Carlson, Tanner (Shelby) Taffe, Whitney Frisch, Willie Frisch, Adam Andrews, Ashley (Tony) Sparrow, Mitchell Andrews, Brady (Ashley) Fuhrman, Scott (Lauren) Fuhrman, and Katie (David) Webster; 15 great-grandchildren (and one on the way); one sister; and three sisters-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Taffe in 1970; her parents; and two brothers.
