The Lady Bulldog girls’ tennis team ended their 2019 season with an awards night at Pizza Ranch on October 22. Varsity players received trophies for their place winnings at the South Dakota Class A tennis tournament. Milbank finished fifth and shattered the school record with the most points earned at State with 257.5 points.

“The season went great,”said head coach Abbey Trapp. “As a first-year coach, I could not ask for a better group of
girls. They all worked hard, and we had a lot of fun. I am very pleased with how state turned out.” Ninneman placed fifth at No. 6 singles. Johnson earned a fourth-place finish at No. 5 singles. Cantine teamed up with Welberg at No. 2 doubles and earned fourth place. Essington earned fourth place at No. 1 singles and paired up with Muellenbach at No. 1 doubles for a third-place finish. Muellenbach also took fifth place at No. 3 singles. Welberg earned sixth place at No. 6 singles.

Awards were also given to players who displayed the core values implemented by the MHS athletic department:  (l. to r.) Hope Karels – character; Hattie Muellenbach – wellness; Halli Essington – academic achievements; Rhianna Cantine – responsibility; and Rhianna Welberg – community service.
