Audrey Youngren died peacefully on December 10, 2019, after a brief hospice stay at the Good Samaritan Center in Windom, MN with her family at her side. She was 88 years old. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 14 at the First United Methodist Church in Windom, Minnesota at 10:30 am.

Audrey Jean Youngren was born June 18, 1931, in Artesian, South Dakota. She was the youngest of six children born to James and Cora (Schrader) Goering. Audrey received her education in Mt. Lake, MN, and Windom, MN, graduating in 1949.

Audrey was united in marriage to Goodwin Youngren at the First United Methodist Church in Windom, MN on January 31, 1954. This marriage was blessed with two children, Larry and Patti. Audrey worked at the First National Bank and First United Methodist Church in Windom. After marriage, the couple farmed near Windom, MN, Lake Park, IA and Round Lake, MN. The family moved to Milbank, SD in 1966 as they purchased The Mill Motel. They operated the business until 1978. Audrey worked as an auto underwriter for Milbank Mutual and Royal Insurance until she retired in 1996. In 2015, Audrey and Goody moved back to Windom 4 months short of living in Milbank, SD for 50 years.

Audrey was a member of Parkview United Methodist Church in Milbank, SD and First United Methodist Church in Windom, MN. She was active in U.M.W. church projects and Bible studies. Audrey loved to travel. She was able to visit all 50 states, Mexico and Canada. She played in a 500 card club and volunteered many hours as a Cub Scout, Brownie, Girl Scout and 4-H leader. She volunteered at the community thrift store and served on the Christian Service Council. Audrey’s biggest passion was being creative. Her favorite hobby was sewing. She sewed clothing for various family members.

Audrey was a member of a quilt club. She made nearly 600 quilts with “Sew Special for Missions”. She also made a series of quilts based on bible stories. Each grandchild received a quilt at highschool graduation. Her first great-grandchild also received a quilt.

Audrey is survived by her husband, Goodwin Youngren, of 65 years. She is also survived by her son Larry (Linda) of Baraboo, WI; granddaughters Kysa (Sam) Sussenguth of Salt Lake City, UT; Ellyce Youngren of Denver, CO; daughter Patti (Nestor) Palm, granddaughter Alissa (Chris) Grunewald, great-grandson Oliver, grandson JD (Sandra) Palm and great-grandson Simon, all of Windom, MN.

Audrey was preceded in death by her parents; one brother Byron; and four sisters, Fern, Beulah, Ruby, and Geraldine.
