Erna Cahill

Erna Cahill, age 103, of Milbank, passed away on December 14, 2019, at Avantara-Milbank.

A Memorial service will be held on Friday, December 20, at 10:30 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank. Pastor Timothy Koch will officiate. Inurnment will be at the Revillo Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church in Milbank on Friday.

Erna Ruth Cahill was born on April 25, 1916, in Alban Township, Grant County, South Dakota, to Louis and 0’Tillie (Hauer) Bihrle. Her marriage to James W. Cahill took place in St. John’s Lutheran parsonage in Revillo, South Dakota, on June 1, 1934. The couple lived on the family farm near Albee, South Dakota, until moving to Milbank in 1993.

Erna is survived by her son, James Pierce Cahill of Palm Springs, CA; many nieces and nephews; and her loving friend, Kathy Mathiason of Milbank.

Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, James Cahill; and her family of six sisters; and one brother.
