Heidi Christenson, age 62, of Milbank, SD, passed away from cancer on Friday, December 27, 2019, at Milbank Area Hospital – Avera Health. Heidi was the wife of James “Jim” Christenson of Milbank.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 7, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank. A prayer service will begin at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Rev. Timothy Koch will officiate, and burial will be at Milbank City Cemetery at a later date.
Heidi Jo (Solberg) Christenson was born on April 24, 1957, at Buffalo, MN, to Ted and Darla (Johnston) Solberg. Heidi grew up in the Buffalo area and graduated from high school and college. She served six years in the United States Marine Reserve in Minnesota.
Heidi was married for 16 years before getting divorced. Later, she met Jim while working with Jim’s son at Dakota Sewing Factory in Milbank. Jim and Heidi were married on August 25, 1996, in Milbank. They were blessed with 23 wonderful years together.
Heidi was a quilter and an artist. She had a tremendous zest for life! She loved riding on her own 1946 Doodle Bug motor scooter with Jim and her grandchildren. Heidi’s family was everything to her! She adored her three grandchildren, as well as, her two children and husband, Jim.
Heidi was a devout Christian; she knew the Bible from cover to cover and read it many times over. If you had a question about something in the Bible, she would know the answer!
Heidi is survived by her husband, James “Jim” Christenson of Milbank, SD; son, Rory Pond of Aurora, SD; daughter, Laureen Pond of Milbank, SD; three grandchildren: Niah, Riley, and Alana Pond, all of Milbank, SD; her father, Ted (Jean) Solberg of Buffalo, MN; sisters: Bonny (Louie) Boeson of Maple Lake, MN; Sara Bursch of Buffalo, MN; Heather (Ron) Dick of Buffalo, MN; and Bliss (John) Benson of Minneapolis, MN; brothers: Todd (Donna) Solberg of Rogers, MN; and Shane (Sandy) Solberg of Cokato, MN; and many nieces and nephews. Heidi was preceded in death by her mother, Darla; and sister, Terry Ek of Kasson, MN.
