Duane Wiseman, age 82, of Milbank, SD, died on January 26, 2020, at Avantara – Milbank. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 7, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at Tabor United Methodist Church in Big Stone City, SD. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 6, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank with a prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Friday. Rev. Dr. DeVern Schwenn will officiate, and burial will be at Twin Brooks Cemetery at a later date.

Duane Theodore Wiseman was born on July 29, 1937, in Roberts County, SD, on the Giessinger family farm near Corona. He was the son of Theo and Celia (Giessinger) Wiseman. Duane attended rural school in Roberts County and then attended school in Revillo through eighth grade. He continued to help his father on the family farm. Duane married Ruth Schmierbach in 1961 and to this union, six children were born: Shelley, Glenda, Renae, Alan, Brent, and Craig.

Duane worked for the Grant County Highway Department. He plowed snow through the terrible winter of 1969. He later worked at Joe Scheef Construction, Cold Springs Granite, and finally, at Wiseman Construction for 27 years where he worked with his dad and his brother, Don.

Duane enjoyed working on his own farm near Twin Brooks. He raised sheep, horses, cattle, and chickens until 1986 when he moved into Milbank. He loved horses and was a member of the Revillo Saddle Club. He enjoyed watching rodeos, hunting, and fishing. He was a member of Tabor United Methodist Church in Big Stone City, SD, the Marvin Senior Citizens, and the Last of the Fast Guns Club. Duane enjoyed spending time and dancing with his girlfriend, Lola. He and Lola also enjoyed traveling together. He especially liked visiting Alaska, Nashville, TN, and Branson, MO. He loved country music and would never miss attending the Peever Jamboree.

Duane is survived by his longtime girlfriend, Lola Voeltz of Milbank, SD; children: Shelley (Paul) Bareford of Rapid City, SD; Glenda (Mark) Conrad of Wilmot, SD; Renae (Brent) Ennis of Watertown, SD; Alan Wiseman of Rapid City, SD; Brent Wiseman of Twin Brooks, SD; and Craig (Ranale) Wiseman of Rapid City, SD; brother, Don Wiseman of Milbank, SD; sister Margaret (Wayne) Jensen of Brooklyn Park, MN; ten grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two grandsons: Kevin and Johnny.
