The Lady Bulldogs fell to Madison in the Battle of the Bulldogs Tuesday, February 25, at the Milbank Armory. The final score was 47-39. “It was kind of the same thing as a lot of our games,” said Milbank’s head coach Brian Pauli. “We played well for the first half, but then we turned the ball over way too much and stopped scoring.”

Milbank got out to a solid start and led 11-8 after the opening quarter. The score was knotted up at 24-24 at the midway mark. Milbank struggled in the third quarter with turnovers, and they added just one point to their total to fall behind at 25-37 heading into the final period. Milbank outscored Madison by four points in the fourth, but there was not enough time to overcome the deficit.

Maurina Street and Jaecy Engebretson both produced a double-double. Street led the team with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Engebretson added 11 points and 12 rebounds. Isabella Anderson tallied eight points, three boards, six assists, and three steals. Hallie Schulte chipped in four points, one rebound, and one steal. Madi Thue scored three points, grabbed five rebounds, and had two assists. Lindsey Mertens snagged four rebounds and made one assist.

Milbank made 28 percent of their shots from the field, dropping in 15-of-53 attempts. The Lady Bulldogs corralled 44 rebounds, had 13 assists, and made five steals. They committed 24 turnovers.

Madison connected on 17-of-49 of their shots from the field for 35 percent shooting. They ended the game with 29 rebounds, 11 steals, and four blocked shots. They committed 21 turnovers.
