The Lady Bulldogs dominated in their final game of the regular basketball season against Tiospa Zina. They defeated the Wambadi 53-30 on Thursday, February 27 at the Milbank Armory. The Lady Bulldogs now head into the post-season.

“I’m happy our team and our two seniors (Jaecy Engebretson and Tracy Pillatzki) ended the regular season on a positive,” stated the Lady Bulldogs’ head coach Brian Pauli. “In the last three games, we have been playing our best basketball. That’s all we can ask for.”

Milbank jumped out to a 19-8 lead after the opening quarter. The Lady Bulldogs widened the gap to 32-17 at the midway mark. The scoring slowed down in the third period, but the Lady Bulldogs continued to push ahead. They held a 41-20 advantage heading into the final stanza and claimed the victory at the buzzer.

Maurina Street led Milbank with 18 points and eight rebounds. Jaecy Engebretson followed with 16 points, four assists, and five steals. Lindsey Mertens tallied five points, three assists, and two steals. Isabella Anderson added five points, two boards, one assist, and six steals. Hallie Schulte chipped in four points, one rebound, one assist, and three steals. Jenna Dexter scored three points. Tracy Pillatzki added two points, three rebounds, one assist, and two steals. Also contributing to the totals for Milbank were: Madi Thue with four rebounds, four assists, and two steals; Emily Wollschlager with one rebound; and Ellie Neugebauer with one steal.

Milbank connected on 21-of-56 from the field for 38 percent shooting. The Lady Bulldogs snared 29 rebounds, stole the ball 21 times, and made 14 assists. They were charged with 14 turnovers.

Tiospa Zina made 32 percent of their shots from the field. They dropped in 12-of-38 attempts. The Wambadi ended the game with 36 rebounds, seven steals, three blocked shots, and one assist. They committed 32 turnovers.
