Jeanette Spahr, age 88, of Milbank, SD, passed away on March 22, 2020, at St. William’s Care Center.
Private family services will be held at Mundwiler Funeral Home and burial in the Milbank City Cemetery. A memorial Mass at St. Lawrence Catholic Church will be held at a later date.
Jeanette Betty (Folk) Spahr was born on February 14, 1932, in Roberts County, SD. She was the eighth child of 18 born to Steve and Barbara (Giessinger) Folk. Jeanette attended rural school through the eighth grade at Geneseo #4 in Roberts County.
Jeanette was united in marriage with Dale R. Spahr on November 22, 1950. They made their home in Milbank and were blessed with five children: Karen, Mike, Tim, Allen, and Dawn. Jeanette and Dale enjoyed dances and especially loved to play Bingo. Jeanette was a hard worker and cleaned homes for several area residents. She had a talent for embroidery on dish towels, and shared the towels with many. She also enjoyed gardening and was famous for her baking! She was a faithful member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Mike (Barb) Spahr of Port Charlotte, FL; Tim Spahr of Kansas City, MO; Allen Spahr of Grand Junction, CO; and Dawn Bunting (Craig Schlueter) of Milbank, SD; five grandchildren: Michelle Wilkie, Michael Spahr, Melissa Sletten, Ashley Muldoon, and Eric Parvin; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; siblings: Leo (Betty) Folk of Milbank, SD; Mary Whiting of Milbank, SD; Rose Lewno of Oregon; Teresa Hyatt of Milbank, SD; Elvina (Arvid) Boerger of Twin Brooks, SD; Eugene (Deanna) Folk of Corona, SD; Barbara Graham of Colorado; Don (Shirley) Folk of Corona, SD; and Angela (Rusty) Davis of Las Vegas, NV; sister-in-law, Gladys Folk of Milbank, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale; infant daughter, Karen; daughter-in-law, Denise Spahr; and sibilings: Ed Folk, Helen Wibeto; Lillian Jorgenson, Florence Jankord, Lucille Rademacher, Charles Folk; Albert Folk, and Diane VanHout.
